Epic…it’s the one word often used to describe Hollywood director, Baz Luhrman’s films. Perhaps you’ve seen the trailer for his “Great Gatsby” movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio due to hit theaters late spring 2013. He is most known for his incredible ability to mix the modern and late eras, such as in his movies Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge. This was our inspiration for our Great Gatsby wedding. We wanted a little something out of the box as Great Gatsby-styled shoots have certainly been done before. So what’s different about ours? Inspired by Baz Luhrman’s ability to mix eras we decided to set our wedding in modern day Chicago by using the gorgeous RPM Italian restaurant as our venue and weave in bits of the 1920’s flare in the clothing, accessories and flowers. We also felt the need to change up the story line a bit because we KNOW everyone wanted Daisy to end up with her Gatsby!!

Who is WE…you might be asking?? Well, “WE” is my awesome new group of photography friends that I met this past spring at Jasmine Star’s The Fix in Chicago. We decided to pool our resources and creativity together to put on a styled shoot in early summer….which I’m proud to say was PUBLISHED! So…we (The Photography Stylistas) decided to do it again! We had an AMAZING group of vendors who donated their time and resources to help make this shoot happen. So without further ado…here is our Great Gatsby Wedding!!

Did you know that colored wedding dresses are SO in right now?! Daisy’s dress is a Diane Von Furstenberg gold sequin gown and was provided to us by Rent the Runway.

And our Gatsby? His stylish suit was provided by Urban Offering a new custom clothing business that is doing some really great things! Ladies….I highly recommend you send your man to get a custom suit for your wedding!

And it couldn’t be a Gatsby wedding without their best friends Nick Caraway and Jordan Baker!
